I tried installing the x64 Vista Beta 2 to my 2nd partition which has XP x64 on it and the installation went all the way through to "Windows starting for the first time" and then soon a BSOD. I am using Microsoft DVD's, I wasn't given a choice of DVD or downloading, so there should not be a download corruption issue. The install would not upgrade but said it needed to do a clean install and saved my Win XP x64 to windows.old file. That seems to have worked because after it restored the orginal system Win XP x64 worked normally. I am dual booting on this PC and have Win XP 32 on C: and Win XP x64 on D: as Microsoft recommends for this setup. I started the installation from the desktop not booting from the DVD as most people here seem to have done. Any suggestions? Only thing I notice is I am not able to post a message here from that PC right now, either version of Windows. Both installations I get this repeated clicking and see the progress bar at the bottom of the dialog for the post window get about 3 bars.

Beta 2 x64 Fails to Install
Update: I now have Vista x64 installed but can only run in Safe Mode. I installed using the method given here of booting from the install DVD rather that runing from a XP installation. The BSOD when booting in Normal mode says something about video problems. I was very excited at the end of this install as I got all the way to setting up a user and it bombed. The pebbles or stones as the desktop was very nice but then BSOD. I am good in Safe Mode and have sent a "Problem Reports and Solutions" report of the problem. I tried installing the ATI provided Vista driver for 64 bit but that didn't work well at all. I am having great problems trying to use the Windows Explorer in Vista and even suspect it is not reporting Drives correctly. Microsoft is in deep trouble it seems given the current date and the expected release date.
